1. Nature

El Malpais, National Monument in NM

The National Park Service brochure, says Where Sharp Lava Meets Smooth Sandstone, and there is so much beauty in nature here, why I put this gallery here, rather than with travels.
In spanish El Malpais means badlands. It's volcanic features include jagged spatter cones, a lava tube system extending at least 17 miles, and fragile ice caves. The Puebloan peoples
of Acoma, Laguna, and Zuni, and the Ramah Navajo have been and still are here, and were at the fringe of a system centered in Chaco Canyon, where I also have images of. I've commented
certain images, just to share a bit more, and will be adding more images with future visits.

  • This caterpillar has colors to blend in with it's surroundings, but crossing a road, it definitely stood out. <br />
It's heading to the left by the way.
  • Maybe left over from my rock climbing days (used to love crack climbs), but I thought this was another example of nature's beautiful work.
